I’m Marina, a neurodivergent and highly sensitive author
Since childhood, I’ve always loved creating, drawing, and writing. This passion led me to bring a unique world to life through my comics and illustrated books for children. Ecco, a playful and lovable little dog, became the hero of my stories — gently reflecting the beauty and richness of being different.
At the age of 40, I discovered that I am HPI (high intellectual potential), HPE (high emotional potential), and highly sensitive. This realization deeply illuminated both my personal and creative journey, helping me understand the unique way I experience the world.
This turning point became a powerful source of inspiration for my book The Extraordinary Children , a guide created to support children and adults in understanding and managing their emotions — while embracing their uniqueness and helping them thrive.
The Idea: A Boundless Imagination
It was during a trip to Italy that the idea of drawing Ecco first came to life. Little by little, I began to imagine a comic built around this curious and clever little dog, surrounded by characters with very different personalities — a true reflection of human diversity.
As a neurodivergent and highly sensitive author, I draw from my deep sensitivity to create stories that resonate with children who, like me, experience their differences with intensity and authenticity.
A Passionate and Meticulous Process
Writing and illustrating a comic book requires patience, precision, and passion. After putting the first ideas on paper in just a few days, I spent months refining sketches, adding colors, and bringing the settings and characters to life.
Every detail is carefully crafted to create a captivating world filled with emotion.
My Greatest Reward: Children’s Smiles
What touches me the most is seeing a child smile, laugh, or remember my characters and stories long after reading them. That unique connection — that shared emotion — is my greatest reward.
The adventures of Ecco are already in the works, continuing to support neurodivergent children as they discover the world with humor and tenderness.
