The Extraordinary Children

Portraits of Neurodivergent Children

Through these drawings, I seek to make visible what, for some children, is lived in silence. The so-called “extraordinary” children — highly sensitive, gifted, emotionally intense, or simply different — carry within them deep, luminous, and sometimes complex inner worlds. They feel everything more intensely, think differently, marvel, worry, withdraw. In their eyes: endless questions. In their movements: an inner dance that few can truly see.

Each illustration is an attempt to connect. A way of saying, “I see you, just as you are.” There is softness in these drawings, strength, and sometimes solitude — but above all, a profound richness. This is a tribute to children who do not fit into boxes, because they were never meant to. A different way of seeing them, in order to understand them differently.

Neurodivergent children perceive the world with a unique intensity. Whether they are highly sensitive, gifted, emotionally intense, or simply different in the way they are, they carry within them a richness that is often overlooked. These are children who feel deeply, think quickly, and express themselves in their own way.

Through my drawings, I try to capture what words sometimes struggle to express: their emotions in motion, their meaningful silences, their need for gentleness and respect. These are not children to be “fixed,” but individuals to be listened to, understood, and supported.

Each illustration is a window into their inner world. It invites us to look beyond behaviors and to embrace difference as a strength. These children need kindness, patience, and an environment that respects their natural rhythm.

By seeing them differently, we also learn to see the world with greater depth. Because neurodivergent children remind us of something essential: there is not just one way to be in the world.

A Guide for Neurodivergent Children

The Extraordinary Children – The Illustrated Book of Emotions explores 20 core emotions: joy, anger, fear, sadness…

For each emotion, you’ll find an illustration, a poem, a text for neurodivergent individuals, and another for those who support them.

It’s a book designed to help you understand yourself, love yourself, and feel less alone. It can be read from beginning to end, or one emotion at a time, depending on what you need in the moment. To be read alone, together, as a family, at school, or in therapy.

Why Choose This Book for Highly Sensitive Readers?

This book helps make sense of intense emotions, express them, and gently regulate them in everyday life. It is intended for children and adults who feel everything more deeply and want to better understand themselves. It becomes a powerful tool to create connection, encourage communication, and support emotions with care and gentleness.
